Is An All-Inclusive Resort For You?

All-inclusive resorts offer some of the most relaxing—and surprisingly active—vacations out there. As the name suggests, everything is bundled together, so you can head into your trip ready to unwind, indulge, and enjoy yourself without stressing over the details. Whether you’re planning a honeymoon, a girls’ getaway, a family vacation, an anniversary, or just a spontaneous escape, All-Inclusives are a fantastic option. But with hundreds of resorts throughout the Caribbean, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the choices. Here are a few key ideas to help your travel advisor match you with the perfect resort.

  • Location, Location, Location
Do you want to be sipping margaritas in Mexico, listening to the beat of the steel-drum in Jamaica, or taking in the views of the lush mountainsides in St. Lucia?  Narrowing down where you might want to go is one of the first crucial steps that need to be taken in the process.  The good news?  There really is no wrong answer!

  • Pool or Ocean
Even though the overwhelming majority of All-Inclusive Resorts are right on the ocean, that does not mean that every resort is on a swimmable ocean.  Some resorts offer beautiful, sandy views of water that are too choppy most days for guests to safely get in. Other resorts have rocky areas along the waterfront.  So, if beautiful sand and swimmable water is a high priority, let your travel advisor know!  On the flip side, some resorts offer fantastic and beautiful pools, which is another appealing option for guests who want water that is always safe to swim in, sargassum-free year-round, and who possibly watched Jaws one too many times when they were younger.

  • Size of the Resort – Some resorts offer a small footprint while other resorts have multiple buildings sprawling out over numerous acres.  Some resorts offer high rise beachfront views while other resorts are only 2-3 stories in height.  While larger resorts may offer more activities, smaller resorts may offer a more personalized feel.  Some guests enjoy having larger stretches of beachfront to stroll while other guests may need less area to cover due to mobility issues.

  • Laid Back or Lots of Energy – If quiet relaxation is your top priority, your agent will not book a resort known for its party like atmosphere.  If lots of activities during both day and night make for your ideal resort, your agent will not book a resort that is known for its low-key scene.  What if you want somewhere in between?  We have that, too!

  • Adults Only or Family Friendly – There are several brands in the Caribbean that are catered to families.  These resorts typically have clubs for your children to go hang out in during the day or some type of waterpark experience with slides.  These are great options when traveling with children!  However, some resorts will offer an adults-only section that is part of a larger family-friendly complex.  If adults only is truly what you are aiming for, let your agent know!  There are so many brands that specialize in crafting perfect resorts just for the grownups.
