Our Dreamy Stay at Sandals Royal Curaçao

We recently stayed at Sandals Royal Curaçao—and let me tell you, it was an absolute dream. If Curaçao isn’t on your radar yet, go ahead and bump it to the top of your travel list. Its unique location below the hurricane belt means year-round tropical weather without the constant rain threat. Plus, the desert climate gives it this warm-but-not-muggy feel that my husband and I loved. Think sun-drenched days with a cool island breeze—pure magic.

Arrival Vibes

Getting to the resort was a breeze—a scenic 45-minute bus ride from the airport, complete with stunning views of Willemstad from the iconic Queen Juliana Bridge. At check-in, we were welcomed with cool, deliciously scented towels (seriously, they smelled like a spa!) and a Blue Curaçao cocktail in the Club lounge. Instant vacation mode: activated.

We stayed in a Subi Club Level Walkout Room with a Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub—aka, paradise. The room was beautiful, and the location couldn’t have been better. Our luggage arrived quickly, and within minutes, we were strolling out our patio door, making a beeline to the food trucks for some much-needed grub and drinks.

Also, major shoutout to the staff—they were so warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. That hospitality made all the difference.

Foodie Highlights

Over the course of our week-long stay, we made it our mission to try every single restaurant. Priorities, right?

  • Gatsu Gatsu: Amazing sushi. Super fresh and beautifully plated.
  • Butch’s Steakhouse: A must if you’re into steak and elevated classics.
  • Vincent: Artistic and flavorful. Think: fine dining without the stuffiness.
  • Aolos: Breakfast with a view! The lobster omelette was unforgettable—and those ocean views? Absolutely dreamy.

Every meal felt like a little event, and the cocktails were top-tier.

Pool Goals

Okay, let’s talk pools. Wow. The moment you walk into the lobby, you’re greeted by the most stunning double infinity pool. It blends right into the ocean, and the view is seriously postcard-worthy. This main pool was lively with great music and awesome entertainment staff keeping the energy high.

We also loved the quieter pools scattered around the property. There’s even a hidden gem near the Melemele buildings that we had all to ourselves more than once. Whether you’re looking to sip cocktails in the sun or just chill with a book, there’s a pool vibe for everyone here.

Beach Expectations = Exceeded

I’ll be honest—I came in with low expectations for the beach, based on some reviews I’d read. But I was pleasantly surprised! The beach area was a great size, the water was always calm, and it was perfect for easy swims. They have these large floating discs that we lounged on for hours, and my husband snorkeled right off the beach!

We also hopped on the Sandals snorkeling boat a couple of times—it docks right at the pier next to the beach. Super convenient and a great way to explore more of the beautiful coastline.

Exploring the Island

One of the absolute highlights of our trip was getting off the resort and exploring Curaçao. We booked an island tour with a local tour operator, and it was incredible.

We strolled through Willemstad, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and crossed the famous Queen Emma Bridge—we even caught it opening for a boat to pass (so cool!). Along the way, we spotted wild flamingos, explored caves and a dramatic blowhole at Shete Boka National Park, and had a local lunch at Jaanchies, where we even tried iguana (or as Mr. Jaanchie
himself lovingly called it, mountain chicken). We swam with sea turtles and ended the day at the jaw-droppingly beautiful Playa Kenepa (Grote Knip). Pure bliss.

Final Thoughts

If you’re debating which Sandals Resort to visit, do not sleep on Sandals Royal Curaçao. It’s modern, luxurious, and effortlessly blends relaxation with adventure. We left feeling refreshed, sun-kissed, and already dreaming about our next visit!
